So they went to the king. They talked to him about the law he had made. They said, “King Darius, you signed a law that says, for the next 30 days anyone that prays to any god or man except you, the king, would be thrown into the lions’ den (cage). You did sign that law, didn’t you?”

“So, if it pleased the king, here is a suggestion: Let the king give a royal command and let it be written in the laws of Persia and Media. The laws of Persia and Media can’t be changed. The jailer heard this special order. So he put Paul and Silas far inside the jail. He tied their feet between large blocks of wood.
