The king asked Daniel (Belteshazzar) a question. He said to Daniel, “Are you able to tell me about my dream, and what it means?”

Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I had a dream. But no one can interpret the dream for me. I heard that you can interpret dreams when someone tells you about them.”

Then Ashpenaz gave those young men from Judah Babylonian names. Daniel’s new name was Belteshazzar. Hananiah’s new name was Shadrach. Mishael’s new name was Meshach. And Azariah’s new name was Abednego.

Finally, Daniel came to me. (I gave Daniel the name, Belteshazzar, to honor my god. The spirit of the holy gods is in him.) I told Daniel about my dream.

The man I am talking about is named Daniel. The king gave him the name Belteshazzar. Belteshazzar (Daniel) is very smart and he knows many things. He could interpret dreams, explain secrets, and answer very hard problems. Call for Daniel. He will tell you what the writing on the wall means.”

I have heard about you. I have heard that you are able to explain what things mean, and that you can find the answer to very hard problems. If you can read this writing on the wall and explain to me what it means, this is what I will do for you: I will give you purple clothes {\cf2\super [57]} and I will put a gold chain around your neck. Then you will become the third highest ruler in the kingdom.”

During the first year that Belshazzar was king of Babylon, {\cf2\super [71]} Daniel had a dream. Daniel saw these visions {\cf2\super [72]} while he was lying on his bed. Daniel wrote what he had dreamed about.

Saul answered, “You can’t go out and fight against this Philistine (Goliath). You’re not even a soldier! [154] And Goliath has been fighting in wars since he was a boy.”
