I did that because I knew\par you were stubborn.\par \{You refused to believe anything I said\}.\par You were very stubborn—\par like iron \{that does not bend\}\par and as hard as bronze.\par

Lord, I know that you want people\par to be loyal to you.\par You hit the people of Judah,\par but they did not feel any pain.\par You destroyed them,\par but they refused to learn their lesson.\par They became very stubborn.\par They refused to be sorry\par for the bad things they did.\par

But you planted evil, and you harvested trouble. You ate the fruit of your lies. Why? Because you have trusted in your power and your soldiers.

They make promises—but they are only telling lies. They don’t keep their promises! They make agreements \{with other countries. God does not like those agreements\}. The judges are like poisonous weeds growing in a plowed field.

So, I will bring an end to the kings {\cf2\super [34]} of Moab. And I will kill all the leaders of Moab.” The Lord said those things.

People are good at doing bad things\par with both hands.\par Officials ask for bribes.\par Judges take money\par to change their decisions in court.\par “Important leaders” \{don’t make\par good and fair decisions\}.\par They do whatever they want to do.\par

People who work for peace in a peaceful way get the good things that come from right living.
