Acts 23:6Easy To Read VersionSome of the men in the meeting were Sadducees {\cf2\super [454]} and some others were Pharisees. {\cf2\super [455]} So Paul had an idea: He shouted to them, “My brothers, I am a Pharisee and my father was a Pharisee! I am on trial here because I hope (believe) that people will rise from death!” See the chapter |
“I am a Jew. I was born in Tarsus in the country of Cilicia. I grew up in this city (Jerusalem). I was a student of Gamaliel. {\cf2\super [434]} He carefully taught me everything about the law of our fathers. {\cf2\super [435]} I was very serious about serving God, the same as all of you here today.
The high priest {\cf2\super [437]} and the whole council of older Jewish leaders can tell you that this is true! One time these leaders gave me some letters. The letters were to the Jewish brothers in the city of Damascus. I was going there to arrest the followers of Jesus and bring them back to Jerusalem for punishment.
