They got Paul and took him to a meeting of the Areopagus council. {\cf2\super [354]} They said, “Please explain to us this new idea that you have been teaching.

The guard answered,\par “Morning is coming,\par But then night will come again.\par If you have something to ask,\par then come back {\cf2\super [209]} and ask.”\par

You will be taken to stand before governors and kings. People will do this to you because of me. You will tell about me to those kings and governors and to the non-Jewish people.

The people were amazed. They asked each other, “What is happening here? This man is teaching something new. And he teaches with authority (power)! He even gives commands to evil spirits, and the spirits obey him.”

“I give you a new command: Love each other. You must love each other like I loved you.

The things that you are saying are new to us. We have never heard these things before. We want to know what this teaching means.”

Then Paul stood before the meeting of the Areopagus council. {\cf2\super [355]} Paul said, “Men of Athens, I can see that you are very religious in all things.

But some of the people believed Paul and joined him. One of the people that believed was Dionysius. He was a member of the Areopagus council. {\cf2\super [357]} Another person who believed was a woman named Damaris. There were also some other people that believed.

The commander led the young man to a place where they could be alone. The commander asked, “What do you want to tell me?”

After a few days Felix came with his wife, Drusilla. She was a Jew. Felix asked for Paul to be brought to him. Felix listened to Paul talk about believing in Christ Jesus.

Agrippa {\cf2\super [481]} said to Festus, “I would like to hear this man, too.”

Agrippa {\cf2\super [485]} said to Paul, “You may now speak to defend yourself.”
