When Barnabas and Saul came to the city of Salamis, they told the message {\cf2\super [250]} of God in the Jewish synagogues. {\cf2\super [251]} (John \{Mark\} was with them to help.)
{Then Elisha had a special meal with his family.} Elisha went and killed his cows. He used the yoke [218] for firewood and boiled the meat. Then he gave it to the people and they ate the meat. Then Elisha began following Elijah. Elisha became Elijah’s helper.
When Elijah heard this, he was afraid. So he ran away to save his life. He took his servant with him. They went to Beersheba, Judah. Elijah left his servant in Beersheba.
When Peter realized this, he went to the home of Mary. She was the mother of John. (John was also called Mark.) Many people were gathered there. They were all praying.
They continued their trip from Perga and went to Antioch, a city near Pisidia. In Antioch on the Sabbath day {\cf2\super [255]} they went into the Jewish synagogue {\cf2\super [256]} and sat down.
But Paul and Barnabas spoke very boldly. They said, “We must speak the message {\cf2\super [277]} of God to you Jews first. But you refuse to listen. You are making yourselves lost—not worthy of having eternal life! So we will now go to the people of other nations!
Paul and Barnabas went to the city of Iconium. They entered the Jewish synagogue. {\cf2\super [282]} (This is what they did in every city.) They spoke to the people there. Paul and Barnabas spoke so well that many Jews and Greeks (non-Jews) believed what they said.
In the synagogue, {\cf2\super [352]} Paul talked with the Jews and the Greeks who worshiped the true God. Paul also talked with some people in the business area of the city. Paul did this every day.
Every Sabbath day {\cf2\super [359]} Paul talked with the Jews and Greeks in the synagogue. {\cf2\super [360]} Paul tried to persuade these people \{to believe in Jesus\}.
All the people in the city became upset. The people grabbed Gaius and Aristarchus. (These two men were from Macedonia and were traveling with Paul.) Then all the people ran to the stadium.
Paul went into the synagogue {\cf2\super [384]} and spoke very boldly. Paul continued doing this for three months. He talked with the Jews and persuaded them to accept the things he said about the kingdom of God.
Aristarchus says hello. He is a prisoner with me. And Mark, the cousin of Barnabas, also says hello. (I have already told you what to do about Mark. If he comes, welcome him.)
