The king of Babylon captured all the land between the Brook of Egypt and the Euphrates River. This land was previously controlled by Egypt. So the king of Egypt did not leave Egypt any more.

So on that day, the Lord made a promise and an agreement with Abram. The Lord said, “I will give this land to your descendants. I will give them the land between the River of Egypt [88] and the great river Euphrates.

Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the Euphrates River to the land of the Philistine people. His kingdom went as far as the border of Egypt. These countries sent gifts to Solomon and they obeyed him all of his life. [19]

At that time, the Lord will begin separating his people from others. He will begin at the Euphrates River. {\cf2\super [253]} The Lord will gather all his people from the Euphrates River to the River of Egypt. {\cf2\super [254]}

This message is about the nation of Egypt. This message is about the army of Pharaoh Neco. Neco was the king of Egypt. His army was defeated at the town of Carchemish. Carchemish is on the Euphrates River. Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon defeated the army of Pharaoh Neco at Carchemish in the fourth year that Jehoiakim was king of Judah. {\cf2\super [365]} Jehoiakim was the son of King Josiah. This is the Lord’s message to Egypt:

“Fast men can’t run away.\par Strong soldiers can’t escape.\par They will all stumble and fall.\par This will happen in the north,\par by the Euphrates River.\par

“Son of man, {\cf2\super [252]} I have broken the arm (power)of Pharaoh, king of Egypt. No one will wrap his arm with a bandage. It won’t heal. So his arm won’t be strong enough to hold a sword.”

The Lord my Master says these things, “I am against Pharaoh, king of Egypt. I will break both his arms, the strong arm and the arm that is already broken. I will make the sword fall from his hand.

From Azmon, the border will go to the River of Egypt, [380] and it will end at the Mediterranean Sea.

The border continued to Azmon, the brook of Egypt, and then to the Mediterranean Sea. All that land was on their southern border.
