Isaiah said to them, “Give your master Hezekiah this message: ‘The Lord says: Don’t be afraid of the things that the officers of the king of Assyria have said to make fun of me.
The king of Assyria sent his three most important commanders with a large army to King Hezekiah in Jerusalem. Those men left Lachish and went to Jerusalem. They stood near the aqueduct [225] by the Upper Pool. (The Upper Pool is on the road to the Washers’ Field.)
Jahaziel said, “Listen to me King Jehoshaphat, all you people living in Judah and Jerusalem! The Lord says this to you: ‘Don’t be afraid or worry about this large army, because the battle is not your battle. It is God’s battle!
You won’t need to fight in this battle. Stand strong in your places. You will see the Lord save you. Judah and Jerusalem, don’t be afraid! Don’t worry! The Lord is with you, so go out against those people tomorrow.’”
My Master, the Lord All-Powerful, says, “My people living in Zion, {\cf2\super [121]} don’t be afraid of Assyria! {\cf2\super [122]} He will beat you like Egypt beat you in the past. It will be like Assyria is using a stick to hurt you.
You people that understand goodness\par should listen to me.\par You people that follow my teachings\par should hear the things I say.\par Don’t be afraid of evil people.\par Don’t be afraid of the bad things\par that they say to you.\par
Then Jeremiah said to them, “This is what the Lord, the God of the people of Israel, says. You sent me to him. I asked the Lord what you wanted me to ask. This is what the Lord says:
“When you go out to battle against your enemies, and you see horses, chariots, [126] and many more people than you have, you must not be afraid of them. Why? Because the Lord your God is with you—and the Lord brought you out of Egypt.
Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Don’t be afraid of that army. I will allow you to defeat them. By this time tomorrow, you will have killed them all. You will cut the legs of the horses and burn all their chariots.”
The animal opened his mouth to say bad things against God. The animal also said bad things against God’s name, against the place where God lives, and against all those who live in heaven.
