All King Solomon’s drinking cups were made of gold. All the household things in the House of the Forest of Lebanon were made of pure gold. \{There was so much wealth\} in Solomon's time that silver was not thought valuable \{enough\}.

All of Solomon’s cups and glasses were made of gold. And all of the dishes [138] in the building called the “Forest of Lebanon” were made from pure gold. Nothing in the palace was made from silver. {There was so much gold that} in Solomon’s time people did not think silver was important!

There were statues of 12 lions that stood by the six steps. One lion on each side of each step. There was no throne like this made in any other kingdom.

Why? Because King Solomon had ships that Hiram's men sailed to Tarshish. {\cf2\super [158]} And every three years the ships would return from Tarshish loaded with gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.

King Solomon had so much silver that it was as common as rocks in Jerusalem. And he had so much cedar wood that it was as common as sycamore trees in the hill country.

Wine was served in golden cups. And every cup was different! And there was plenty of the king’s wine, because the king was very generous.

You farmers of Israel will plant\par fields of grapes again.\par You will plant those vineyards on the hills\par around the city of Samaria.\par And those farmers will enjoy the fruit\par from those vineyards.\par

But I tell you that even Solomon, the great and rich king, was not dressed as beautifully as one of these flowers.
