1 Timothy 3:1Easy To Read VersionWhat I say is true: If any person is trying hard to become an elder, {\cf2\super [9]} that person is wanting a good work. See the chapter |
Be careful for yourselves and for all the people that God has given you. The Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [406]} gave you the work of caring for this flock. {\cf2\super [407]} You must be like shepherds to the church (people) of God. {\cf2\super [408]} This is the church that God bought with his own blood. {\cf2\super [409]}
An elder {\cf2\super [5]} has the job of taking care of God’s work. So people should not be able to say that he lives in a wrong way. He must not be a person who is proud and selfish or who becomes angry quickly. He must not drink too much wine. He must not be a person who likes to fight. And he must not be a person who always tries to get rich by cheating people.
