You began waiting for God’s Son to come from heaven. God raised that Son from death. He is Jesus, who saves us from God’s angry judgment that is coming.
The Son of Man {\cf2\super [235]} will come again with his Father’s glory and with his angels. At that time, the Son of Man will reward each person for the things he has done.
Many Pharisees {\cf2\super [37]} and Sadducees {\cf2\super [38]} came to the place where John was baptizing people. When John saw them he said to them: “You are all snakes! Who warned you to run away from God’s anger that is coming?
A man named Simeon lived in Jerusalem. He was a good man that truly worshiped God. Simeon was waiting for the time when God would come to help Israel (the Jews). The Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [35]} was in him.
People came to be baptized {\cf2\super [48]} by John. John said to them, “You are like poisonous snakes! Who warned you to run away from God’s anger that is coming?
The two men said to the apostles, “Men from Galilee, why are you standing here looking into the sky? You saw Jesus carried away from you into heaven. He will come back in the same way you saw him go.”
God has decided a day when he will judge all the people in the world. He will be fair. He will use a man (Jesus) to do this. God chose this man long ago. And God has proved this to every person; God proved it by raising that man from death!”
But Jesus must stay in heaven until the time when all things will be made right again. God told about this time when he spoke long ago through his holy prophets.
We want all of you and all the Jewish people to know that this man was made well by the power of Jesus Christ from Nazareth! You nailed Jesus to a cross. God raised him from death. This man was crippled, but he is now well. He is able to stand here before you because of the power of Jesus!
Some people live for God’s glory, for honor, and for life that cannot be destroyed. Those people live for those things by always continuing to do good. God will give life forever to those people.
Who can say that God’s people are guilty? No one! Christ Jesus died \{for us\}, but that is not all. He was also raised from death. And now he is at God’s right side and is begging God for us.
The law put a curse on us. But Christ took away that curse. He changed places with us. Christ put himself under that curse. The Scriptures say, “When a person’s body is put (hung) on a tree, {\cf2\super [32]} that person is under a curse.” {\cf2\super [33]}
Christ is the head of the body. (The body is the church.) Everything comes from him. And he is the Lord {\cf2\super [5]} who was raised from death. So in all things Jesus is most important.
Yes. They try to stop us from teaching the non-Jews. We teach the non-Jews so that the non-Jews can be saved. But those Jews are adding more and more sins to the sins they already have. The anger of God has fully come to them now.
We are apostles {\cf2\super [5]} of Christ. And so when we were with you, we could have used our authority to make you do things. But we were very gentle {\cf2\super [6]} with you. We were like a mother caring for her little children.
Before God and Jesus Christ I give you a command. Christ Jesus is the One who will judge the people who are living and the people who have died. Jesus has a kingdom, and he is coming again. So I give you this command:
We should live like that while we are waiting for the coming of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. He is our great hope, and he will come with glory.
So Christ was offered as a sacrifice one time to take away the sins of many people. And Christ will come a second time, but not for people’s sin. Christ will come the second time to bring salvation to those people who are waiting for him.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God has great mercy, and because of his mercy he gave us a new life. This new life brings us a living hope through Jesus Christ’s rising from death.
That is what you were called to do. Christ gave you an example to follow. You should do the same as he did. \{You should be patient when you suffer,\} because Christ suffered for you.
Christ himself died for you. And that one death paid for your sins. He was not guilty, but he died for people who are guilty. He did this to bring you all to God. His body was killed, but he was made alive in the spirit.
You should wait for the Day of God. You should want very much for that Day to come. When that Day comes, the sky will be destroyed with fire, and everything in the sky will melt with heat.
Look, Jesus is coming with the clouds! Every person will see him, even the people who pierced {\cf2\super [4]} him. All people of the earth will cry loudly because of him. Yes, this will happen! Amen. {\cf2\super [5]}
