These men were all serving the Lord and fasting. {\cf2\super [245]} The Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [246]} said to them, “Give Barnabas and Saul to me to do a special work. I have chosen them to do this work.”
But when the apostles, {\cf2\super [288]} Barnabas and Paul, understood what the people were doing, they tore their own clothes. {\cf2\super [289]} Then they ran in among the people and shouted to them:
The next night the Lord \{Jesus\} came and stood by Paul. He said, “Be brave! You have told people in Jerusalem about me. You must also go to Rome to tell people there about me!”
But the Lord (Jesus) said to Ananias, “Go! I have chosen Saul for an important work. He must tell about me to kings, to the Jewish people, and to other nations.
So Ananias left and went to the house of Judas. He put his hands on Saul and said, “Saul, my brother, the Lord Jesus sent me. He is the One you saw on the road when you came here. Jesus sent me so that you can see again and so that you can be filled with the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [191]} ”
Greetings from Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus. God called me to be an apostle. {\cf2\super [1]} I was chosen to tell God’s Good News {\cf2\super [2]} to all people.
Through Christ, God gave me the special work of an apostle. {\cf2\super [7]} God gave me this work to lead people of all nations to believe and obey God. And I do this work for Christ.
Now I am speaking to you people that are not Jews. I am an apostle {\cf2\super [123]} to the non-Jews. So while I have that work, I will do the best I can.
I don’t mean that you think it is wrong. But the other person might think it is wrong. \{That is the only reason I would not eat the meat.\} My own freedom should not be judged by what another person thinks.
You must look at the facts before you. If a person feels sure that he belongs to Christ, then he must remember that we belong to Christ the same as that person.
Greetings from Paul, an apostle. {\cf2\super [1]} I was chosen to be an apostle, but not by any group of people. My authority did not come from other people. No! It was Jesus Christ and God the Father who made me an apostle. God is the One who raised Jesus from death.
That is why I was chosen to tell the Good News. {\cf2\super [6]} That is why I was chosen to be an apostle. {\cf2\super [7]} (I am telling the truth. I am not lying.) I was chosen to be a teacher of the non-Jewish people. I teach them to believe and know the truth.
