Neither shall their silver and their gold be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord: all the land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy, for he shall make even a speedy destruction of all them that dwell in the land.

Wherefore expect me, saith the Lord, in the day of my resurrection that is to come, for my judgment is to assemble the Gentiles, and to gather the kingdoms: and to pour upon them my indignation, all my fierce anger: for with the fire of my jealousy shall all the earth be devoured.

Their silver shall be cast forth and their gold shall become a dunghill. Their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord. They shall not satisfy their soul and their bellies shall not be filled: because it hath been the stumbling-block of their iniquity.

Riches shall not profit in the day of revenge: but justice shall deliver from death.

For what doth it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul? Or what exchange shall a man give for his soul?

He said: I will destroy man, whom I have created, from the face of the earth, from man even to beasts, from the creeping thing even to the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

That day is a day of wrath, a day of tribulation and distress, a day of calamity and misery, a day of darkness and obscurity, a day of clouds and whirlwinds,

And I will judge thee as adulteresses and they that shed blood are judged: and I will give thee blood in fury and jealousy.

And Juda did evil in the sight of the Lord, and provoked him above all that their fathers had done, in their sins which they committed.

And my wrath shall be kindled against them in that day: and I will forsake them, and will hide my face from them: and they shall be devoured. All evils and afflictions shall find them, so that they shall say in that day: In truth it is because God is not with me, that these evils have found me.

The substance of the rich man is the city of his strength, and as a strong wall compassing him about.

O Lord God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy servant?

Because the wicked man is reserved to the day of destruction: and he shall be brought to the day of wrath.

Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he? All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient.

And I will cause to cease out of the cities of Juda and out of the streets of Jerusalem the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the brid egroom and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.

Thus saith the Lord God: One affliction, behold, an affliction is come.

Iniquity is risen up into a rod of impiety: nothing of them shall remain, nor of their people, nor of the noise of them: and there shall be no rest among them.

And I will set my jealousy against thee, which they shall execute upon thee with fury. They shall cut off thy nose and thy ears: and what remains shall fall by the sword. They shall take thy sons and thy daughters, and thy residue shall be devoured by fire.

Before the decree bring forth the day as dust passing away, before the fierce anger of the Lord come upon you, before the day of the Lord's indignation come upon you.

Or with princes, that possess gold, and fill their houses with silver:

What will you do in the day of visitation, and of the calamity which cometh from afar? To whom will ye flee for help? And where will ye leave your glory?

And the light of Israel shall be as a fire, and the Holy One thereof as a flame: and his thorns and his briers shall be set on fire and shall be devoured in one day.
