Thus saith the Lord God that created the heavens and stretched them out: that established the earth and the things that spring out of it: that giveth breath to the people upon it, and spirit to them that tread thereon.

He that made the earth by his power, that hath prepared the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding:

For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be angry unto the end: because the spirit shall go forth from my face, end breathings I will make.

Moreover we have had fathers of our flesh, for instructors, and we reverenced them: shall we not much more obey the Father of spirits, and live?

Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured: and all thy enemies shall be carried into captivity: and they that waste thee shall be wasted and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey.

He stretched out the north over the empty space, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.

He that maketh the earth by his power, that prepareth the world by his wisdom and stretcheth out the heavens by his knowledge:

And thou hast forgotten the Lord thy maker, who stretched out the heavens and founded the earth: and thee hast been afraid continually all the day at the presence of his fury who afflicted thee, and had prepared himself to destroy thee. Where is now the fury of the oppressor?

For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens, God himself that formed the earth and made it, the very maker thereof, he did not create it in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is no other.

It is he that sitteth upon the globe of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as locusts: he that stretcheth out the heavens as nothing and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.

Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and weighed the heavens with his palm? Who hath poised with three fingers the bulk of the earth and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?

Sing to him, yea sing praises to him: relate all his wondrous works.

Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom a wilderness destroyed: because they have done unjustly against the children of Juda, and have shed innocent blood in their land.

Nun. Thy prophets have seen false and foolish things for thee: and they have not laid open thy iniquity, to excite thee to penance: but they have seen for thee false revelations and banishments.

Their redeemer is strong: the Lord of hosts is his name. He will defend their cause in judgment, to terrify the land and to disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.

Therefore, fear thou not, my servant Jacob, saith the Lord, neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, behold, I will save thee from a country afar off, and thy seed from the land of their captivity. And Jacob shall return and be at rest and abound with all good things and there shall be none whom he may fear.

Thou perhaps hast made the heavens with him, which are most strong, as if they were of molten brass.

And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and morning were the second day.

Praise ye the Lord, for the Lord is good: sing ye to his name, for it is sweet.
