Every proud man is an abomination to the Lord: though hand should be joined to hand, he is not innocent. The beginning of a good way is to do justice; and this is more acceptable with God, than to offer sacrifices.

Who, having known the justice of God, did not understand that they who do such things, are worthy of death; and not only they that do them, but they also that consent to them that do them.

For when they shall say, peace and security; then shall sudden destruction come upon them, as the pains upon her that is with child, and they shall not escape.

But he said to him: Man, who hath appointed me judge, or divider, over you?

And after a little while, another seeing him, said: Thou also art one of them. But Peter said: O man, I am not.

Thinkest thou that I cannot ask my Father, and he will give me presently more than twelve legions of angels?

You serpents, generation of vipers, how will you flee from the judgment of hell?

For he had despised the oath, breaking his covenant, and, behold, he hath given his hand: and, having done all these things, he shall not escape.

But he hath revolted from him and sent ambassadors to Egypt, that it might give him horses and much people. And shall he that hath done thus prosper or be saved? And shall he escape that hath broken the covenant?

Hand in hand the evil man shall not be innocent: but the seed of the just shall be saved.

Then shalt thou accept the sacrifice of justice, oblations and whole burnt offerings: then shall they lay calves upon thy altar.

Doth thy thought seem right to thee, that thou shouldst say: I am more just than God?

The princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanon their lord: Thinkest thou that for the honour of thy father David hath sent comforters to thee; and hath not David rather sent his servants to thee to search, and spy into the city, and overthrow it?

See that you refuse him not that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spoke upon the earth, much more shall not we, that turn away from him that speaketh to us from heaven.

How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation? which having begun to be declared by the Lord, was confirmed unto us by them that heard him.

And Peter said: Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, as he was yet speaking, the cock crew.

They prepared a snare for my feet; and they bowed down my soul. They dug a pit before my face, and they are fallen into it.

WHEREFORE thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest. For wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself. For thou dost the same things which thou judgest.

For we know that the judgment of God is, according to truth, against them that do such things.

O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it: Why hast thou made me thus?
