Therefore he that resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God. And they that resist, purchase to themselves damnation.

Be ye subject therefore to every human creature for God's sake: whether it be to the king as excelling;

Admonish them to be subject to princes and powers, to obey at a word, to be ready to every good work.

Be ye not many masters, my brethren, knowing that you receive the greater judgment.

Wherefore be subject of necessity, not only for wrath, but also for conscience' sake.

Who devour the houses of widows under the pretence of long prayer: these shall receive greater judgment.

Who devour the houses of widows, feigning long prayer. These shall receive greater damnation.

But woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; because you shut the kingdom of heaven against men, for you yourselves do not enter in; and those that are going in, you suffer not to enter.

For they seek me from day to day and desire to know my ways, as a nation that hath done justice and hath not forsaken the judgment of their God. They ask of me the judgments of justice: they are willing to approach to God.

And Moses said: In the evening the Lord will give you flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for he hath heard your murmurings, with which you have murmured against him. For what are we? Your murmuring is not against us, but against the Lord.

Thou wilt say therefore to me: Why doth he then find fault? for who resisteth his will?

LET every soul be subject to higher powers: for there is no power but from God: and those that are, are ordained of God.

For princes are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good: and thou shalt have praise from the same.
