He sent his word, and healed them: and delivered them from their destructions.

If a nation hath changed their gods, and indeed they are not gods: but my people have changed their glory into an idol.

Being therefore the offspring of God, we must not suppose the divinity to be like unto gold, or silver, or stone, the graving of art, and device of man.

Who changed the truth of God into a lie; and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

For the time past is sufficient to have fulfilled the will of the Gentiles, for them who have walked in riotousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and unlawful worshipping of idols.

The carpenter hath stretched out his rule, he hath formed it with a plane. He hath made it with corners and hath fashioned it round with the compass: and he hath made the image of a man, as it were, a beautiful man, dwelling in a house.

To whom then have you likened God? Or what image will you make for him?

You know that when you were heathens, you went to dumb idols, according as you were led.

Lift up your eyes on high, and see who hath created these things, who bringeth out their host by number and calleth them all by their names. By the greatness of his might and strength and power, not one of them was missing.

And the rest of the men, who were not slain by these plagues, did not do penance from the works of their hands, that they should not adore devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and wood, which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:

Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts, and creeping things of the earth, and fowls of the air.
