The Lord delayeth not his promise, as some imagine, but dealeth patiently for your sake, not willing that any should perish, but that all should return to penance.

Not as though the word of God hath miscarried. For all are not Israelites that are of Israel:

God is not a man, that he should lie: nor as the son of man, that he should be changed. Hath he said then, and will he not do? Hath he spoken, and will he not fulfil?

According to the number of the forty days, wherein you viewed the land: a year shall be counted for a day. And forty years you shall receive your iniquities, and shall know my revenge.

The Lord hath looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there be any that understand and seek God.

Unto the end, corrupt not, a psalm of a canticle for Asaph.

Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer: and attend to the voice of my petition.
