For we brought nothing into this world: and certainly we can carry nothing out.

The rich man when he shall sleep shall take away nothing with him: he shall open his eyes and find nothing.

It is sown in dishonour, it shall rise in glory. It is sown in weakness, it shall rise in power.

And he cried, and said: Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, to cool my tongue: for I am tormented in this flame.

But God said to him: Thou fool, this night do they require thy soul of thee: and whose shall those things be which thou hast provided?

What will you do in the day of visitation, and of the calamity which cometh from afar? To whom will ye flee for help? And where will ye leave your glory?

Therefore hath hell enlarged her soul and opened her mouth without any bounds: and their strong ones and their people and their high and glorious ones shall go down into it.

A most deplorable evil: as he came, so shall he return. What then doth it profit him that he hath laboured for the wind?

And the Lord thundered from heaven, and the highest gave his voice: hail and coals of fire.

And said: Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither. The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away. As it hath pleased the Lord so is it done. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
