A psalm for David. The Lord ruleth me: and I shall want nothing.

My skin is become black upon me: and my bones are dried up with heat.

The just shall see and fear, and shall laugh at him, and say:

Beth. My skin and my flesh he hath made old he hath broken my bones.

We shall roar all of us like bears and shall lament as mournful doves. We have looked for judgment; and there is none: for salvation; and it is far from us.

Thy children are cast forth, they have slept at the head of all the ways, as the wild ox that is snared: full of the indignation of the Lord, of the rebuke of thy God.

O Lord, rebuke me not in thy indignation, nor chastise me in thy wrath.

In the night my bone is pierced with sorrows: and they that feed upon me do not sleep.

Before I eat, I sigh: and as overflowing waters, so is my roaring.

And the mourning being over, David sent and brought her into his house. And she became his wife; and she bore him a son. And this thing which David had done was displeasing to the Lord.

For the iniquity of his covetousness I was angry: and I struck him. I hid my face from thee and was angry: and he went away wandering in his own heart.

And they took their bones and buried them in the wood of Jabes: and fasted seven days.

A joyful mind maketh age flourishing: a sorrowful spirit drieth up the bones.
