And the Lord said: Because the daughters of Sion are haughty, and have walked with stretched out-necks and wanton glances of their eyes, and made a noise as they walked with their feet, and moved in a set pace:
But when thou art spoiled, what wilt though do? Though thou clothest with scarlet, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, and paintest thy eyes with stibic stone, thou shalt dress thyself out in vain: thy lovers have despised thee, they will seek thy life.
They sent for men coming from afar, to whom they had sent a messenger: and, behold, they came: for whom thou didst wash thyself and didst paint thy eyes and wast adorned with women's ornaments.
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife: nor his house, nor his field, nor his man-servant, nor his maid-servant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is his.
