And they may recover themselves from the snares of the devil, by whom they are held captive at his will.

Man knoweth not his own end: but as fishes are taken with the hook, and as birds are caught with the snare, so men are taken in the evil time, when it shall suddenly come upon them.

Then Moses and the children of Israel sung this canticle to the Lord: and said: Let us sing to the Lord, for he is gloriously magnified: the horse and the rider he hath thrown into the sea.

I will meditate on thy commandments: and I will consider thy ways.

By reason of the misery of the needy and the groans of the poor, now will I arise, saith the Lord. I win set him in safety; I will deal confidently in his regard.

Whom having not seen, you love: in whom also now, though you see him not, you believe: and believing shall rejoice with joy unspeakable and glorified;

My brethren, count it all joy, when you shall fall into divers temptations;

For the sins of the lips ruin draweth nigh to the evil man: but the just shall escape out of distress.

His own iniquities catch the wicked, and he is fast bound with the ropes of his own sins.

And these things we write to you, that you may rejoice, and your joy may be full.

They that before had made as if they fled, turning their faces, stood bravely against them. Which the children of Benjamin seeing, turned their backs,

Arms and swords are in the way of the perverse: but he that keepeth his own soul departeth far from them.

The expectation of the just is joy; but the hope of the wicked shall perish.
