God hath given to a man that is good in his sight, wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he hath given vexation, and superfluous care, to heap up and to gather together, and to give it to him that hath pleased God: but this also is vanity, and a fruitless solicitude of the mind.
That hath turned away his hand from injuring the poor, hath not taken usury and increase: but hath executed my judgments and hath walked in my commandments: this man shall not die for the iniquity of his father, but living he shall live.
If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor, that dwelleth with thee: thou shalt not be hard upon them as an extortioner, nor oppress them with usuries.
That giveth upon usury and that taketh an increase: shall such a one live? He shall not live. Seeing he hath done all these detestable things, he shall surely die: his blood shall be upon him.
