The rich and poor have met one another: the Lord is the maker of them both.

Did not he that made me in the womb make him also? And did not one and the same form me in the womb?

He that oppresseth the poor, upbraideth his Maker: but he that hath pity on the poor, honoureth him.

The Lord maketh poor and maketh rich: he humbleth and he exalteth.

The poor man and the creditor have met one another: the Lord is the enlightener of them both.

Who accepteth not the persons of princes: nor hath regarded the tyrant, when he contended against the poor man. For all are the work of his hands.

And the eye cannot say to the hand: I need not thy help; nor again the head to the feet: I have no need of you.
