And he said to man: Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom: and to depart from evil, is understanding.

The wicked shall see, and shall be angry, he shall gnash with his teeth and pine away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.

Let us all hear together the conclusion of the discourse. Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is all man:

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is prudence.

The fear of the Lord is the lesson of wisdom: and humility goeth before glory.

A fool receiveth not the words of prudence: unless thou say those things which are in his heart.

O children, how long will you love childishness, and fools covet those things which are hurtful to themselves, and the unwise hate knowledge?

And as they liked not to have God in their knowledge, God delivered them up to a reprobate sense, to do those things which are not convenient;

A fool laugheth at the instruction of his father: but he that regardeth reproofs shall become prudent. In abundant justice there is the greatest strength: but the devices of the wicked shall be rooted out.

And you shall observe, and fulfil them in practice. For this is your wisdom, and understanding in the sight of nations, that hearing all these precepts they may say: Behold a wise and understanding people, a great nation.

Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and shalt find the knowledge of God.

He that rejecteth instruction, despiseth his own soul: but he that yieldeth to reproof possesseth understanding.

Speak not in the ears of fools: because they will despise the instruction of thy speech.
