And when the avenger of blood shall pursue him, they shall not deliver him into his hands, because he slew his neighbour unawares, and is not proved to have been his enemy two or three days before.
But to have gone with him to the wood to hew wood, and in cutting down the tree the axe slipped out of his hand, and the iron slipping from the handle struck his friend, and killed him: he shall flee to one of the cities aforesaid, and live:
Or being his enemy, strike him with his hand, and he die: the striker shall be guilty of murder. The kinsman of him that was slain, as soon as he findeth him, shall kill him.
