Neither shalt thou make marriages with them. Thou shalt not give thy daughter to his son, nor take his daughter for thy son.

Neither shalt thou take of their daughters a wife for thy son: lest after they themselves have committed fornication, they make thy sons also to commit fornication with their gods.

In those days also I saw Jews that married wives: women of Azotus, and of Ammon, and of Moab.

And I chid them, and laid my curse upon them. And I beat some of them, and shaved off their hair, and made them swear by God that they would not give their daughters to their sons, nor take their daughters for their sons, nor for themselves, saying:

So I separated from them all strangers: and I appointed the courses of the priests and the Levites, every man in his ministry:

Your children and your wives, and the stranger that abideth with thee in the camp: besides the hewers of wood, and them that bring water:

And the king stood upon the step: and made a covenant with the Lord, to walk after the Lord, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his ceremonies, with all their heart, and with all their soul, and to perform the words of this covenant, which were written in that book. And the people agreed to the covenant.

There was no king before him like unto him, that returned to the Lord with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his strength, according to all the law of Moses: neither after him did there arise any like him.

And standing up in his tribunal, he made a covenant before the Lord to walk after him, and keep his commandments, and testimonies, and justifications, with all his heart, and with all his soul, and to do the things that were written in that book which he had read.

And they said: We will restore, and we will require nothing of them; and we will do as thou sayest. And I called the priests and took an oath of them, to do according to what I had said.
