Therefore thus saith the Lord: Behold, I devise an evil against this family: from which you shall not withdraw your necks, and you shall not walk haughtily, for this is a very evil time.

Therefore the prudent shall keep silence at that time, for it is an evil time.

And death shall be chosen rather than life by all that shall remain of this wicked kindred, in all places which are left, to which I have cast them out, saith the Lord of hosts.

Thou shalt serve thy enemy, whom the Lord will send upon thee, in hunger, and thirst, and nakedness, and in want of all things. And he shall put an iron yoke upon thy neck, till he consume thee.

Hear the word that the Lord hath spoken concerning you, O ye children of Israel: concerning the whole family that I brought up out of the land of Egypt, saying:

You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore will I visit upon you all your iniquities.

For he that did prevail hath failed; the scorner is consumed; and they are all cut off that watched for iniquity:
