And the people said: This is Jesus the prophet, from Nazareth of Galilee.

If we shall say, from heaven, he will say to us: Why then did you not believe him? But if we shall say, from men, we are afraid of the multitude: for all held John as a prophet.

Ye men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you, by miracles, and wonders, and signs, which God did by him, in the midst of you, as you also know:

The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth: because I give testimony of it, that the works thereof are evil.

And the Pharisee, who had invited him, seeing it, spoke within himself, saying: This man, if he were a prophet, would know surely who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him, that she is a sinner.

And there came a fear on them all: and they glorified God, saying: A great prophet is risen up among us: and, God hath visited his people.

WOE to Ariel, to Ariel the city which David took! Year is added to year: the solemnities are at an end.

A corrupt man loveth not one that reproveth him: nor will he go to the wise.

And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they knew that he spoke of them.

AND Jesus answering, spoke again in parables to them, saying:

Which when the chief priests and the scribes had heard, they sought how they might destroy him. For they feared him, because the whole multitude was in admiration at his doctrine.

They sought therefore to apprehend him: and no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.
