And others tempting, asked of him a sign from heaven.

AND as they were speaking to the people, the priests, and the officer of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them,

Who said to them: Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

For both the Jews require signs, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

And this they said tempting him, that they might accuse him. But Jesus bowing himself down, wrote with his finger on the ground.

Then the high prist rising up, and all they that were with him, (which is the heresy of the Sadducees,) were filled with envy.

And there came to him some of the Sadducees, who deny that there is any resurrection, and they asked him,

But he considering their guile, said to them: Why tempt you me?

And behold a certain lawyer stood up, tempting him, and saying, Master, what must I do to possess eternal life?

And there came to him the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying:

Who knowing their wiliness, saith to them: Why tempt you me? bring me a penny that I may see it.

And the Pharisees coming to him asked him: Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.

And the next day, which followed the day of preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees came together to Pilate,

Saying: The scribes and the Pharisees have sitten on the chair of Moses.

That day there came to him the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection; and asked him,

But Jesus knowing their wickedness, said: Why do you tempt me, ye hypocrites?

Then the Pharisees going, consulted among themselves how to insnare him in his speech.

And there came to him the Pharisees tempting him, and saying: Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?

THEN came to him from Jerusalem scribes and Pharisees, saying:

And the Pharisees going out made a consultation against him, how they might destroy him.

And the Pharisees seeing it, said to his disciples: Why doth your master eat with publicans and sinners?

For I tell you, that unless your justice abound more than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he imagine himself to be wise.
