A violent wind came on a sudden from the side of the desert, and shook the four corners of the house. And it fell upon thy children; and they are dead. And I alone have escaped to fell thee.


But the Lord sent a great wind into the sea: and a great tempest was raised in the sea, and the ship was in danger to be broken.


Then the Lord said to Satan: Behold, all that he hath is in thy hand; only put not forth thy hand upon his person. And Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.


Thrice was I beaten with rods, once I was stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I was in the depth of the sea.


And when we were fallen into a place where two seas met, they run the ship aground; and the forepart indeed, sticking fast, remained unmoveable: but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the sea.


And sending away the multitude, they take him even as he was in the ship: and there were other ships with him.


And he was in the hinder part of the ship, sleeping upon a pillow; and they awake him, and say to him: Master, doth it not concern thee that we perish?
