And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.
Now the Pharisees, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.
Despised and the most abject of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with infirmity: and his look was as it were hidden and despised. Whereupon we esteemed him not.
Jesus saith: Take away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith to him: Lord, by this time he stinketh, for he is now of four days.
I have not sinned: and my eye abideth in bitterness.
He that is mocked by his friends as I, shall call upon God: and he will hear him. For the simplicity of the just man is laughed to scorn.
He said: Give place, for the girl is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.
And all wept and mourned for her. But he said: Weep not; the maid is not dead, but sleepeth.
But he taking her by the hand, cried out, saying: Maid, arise.
