And now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren; and our children as their children. Behold, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters; and some of our daughters are bondwomen already. Neither have we wherewith to redeem them; and our fields and our vineyards other men possess.

And I said to them: We, as you know, have redeemed according to our ability our brethren the Jews, that were sold to the Gentiles; and will you then sell your brethren, for us to redeem them? And they held their peace, and found not what to answer.

If thy brother be impoverished, and weak of hand, and thou receive him as a stranger and sojourner, and he live with thee:

If thy brother being impoverished sell his little possession, and his kinsman will: he may redeem what he had sold.

If the hand of a stranger or a sojourner grow strong among you, and thy brother being impoverished sell himself to him, or to any of his race:

Either his uncle, or his uncle's son, or his kinsman, by blood, or by affinity. But if he himself be able also, he shall redeem himself:

Now a certain woman of the wives of the prophets cried to Eliseus, saying: Thy servant my husband is dead. And thou knowest that thy servant was one that feared God: and, behold the creditor is come to take away my two sons to serve him.
