Who shew from the beginning the things that shall be at last, and from ancient times the things that as yet are not done, saying: My counsel shall stand, and all my will shall be done.

The heart of man disposeth his way: but the Lord must direct his steps.

There are many thoughts in the heart of a man: but the will of the Lord shall stand firm.

There is no wisdom, there is no prudence, there is no counsel against the Lord.

In whom we also are called by lot, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things according to the counsel of his will.

For he saith to Moses: I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy; and I will shew mercy to whom I will shew mercy.

And a certain man bent his bow, shooting at a venture, and chanced to strike the king of Israel between the lungs and the stomach. But he said to the driver of his chariot: Turn thy hand, and carry me out of the army, for I am grievously wounded.

While he was yet speaking to them, the messenger appeared who was coming to him. And he said: Behold, so great an evil is from the Lord. What shall I look for more from the Lord?

And he said to her: Thou hast spoken like one of the foolish women. If we have received good things at the hand of God, why should we not receive evil? In all these things Job did not sin with his lips.

Although thou conceal these things in thy heart, yet I know that thou rememberest all things.
