Sin. The child and the old man lie without on the ground: my virgins and my young men are fallen by the sword. Thou hast slain them in the day of thy wrath: thou hast killed and shewn them no pity.

For he brought upon them the king of the Chaldeans: and he slew their young men with the sword in the house of his sanctuary. He had no compassion on young man, or maiden, old man, or even him that stooped for age; but he delivered them all into his hands.

And I will no more spare the inhabitants of the land, saith the Lord: behold I will deliver the men, every one into his neighbour's hand, and into the hand of his king: and they shall destroy the land, and I will not deliver it out of their hand.

Samech. Thou hast covered in thy wrath and hast struck us: thou hast killed and hast not spared.

And I will scatter them every man from his brother, and fathers and sons in like manner, saith the Lord. I will not spare and I will not pardon: nor will I have mercy not to destroy them.

Ain. The Lord hath done that which he purposed, he hath fulfilled his word, which he commanded in the days of old: he hath destroyed and hath not spared, and he hath caused the enemy to rejoice over thee and hath set up the horn of thy adversaries.

Beth. The Lord hath cast down headlong and hath not spared all that was beautiful in Jacob: he hath destroyed in his wrath the strongholds of the virgin of Juda and brought them down to the ground: he hath made the kingdom unclean, and the princes thereof.

Samech. The Lord hath taken away all my mighty men out of the midst of me: he hath called against me the time, to destroy my chosen men: the Lord hath trodden the winepress for the virgin daughter of Juda.

Therefore, deliver up their children to famine and bring them into the hands of the sword. Let their wives be bereaved of children and widows: and let their husbands be slain by death. Let their young men be stabbed with the sword in battle.

I sent death upon you in the way of Egypt, I slew your young men with the sword, even to the captivity of your horses: and I made the stench of your camp to come up into your nostrils: yet you returned not to me, saith the Lord.

Therefore neither shall my eye spare nor will I have pity: I will requite their way upon their head.

Therefore I also will deal with them in my wrath: my eye shall not spare them, neither will I shew mercy: and when they shall cry to my ears with a loud voice, I will not hear them.

And my eye shall not spare, neither will I shew mercy: but I will lay thy ways upon thee, and thy abominations shall be in the midst of thee. And you shall know that I am the Lord that strike.

And my eye shall not spare thee, and I will shew thee no pity: but I will lay thy ways upon thee, and thy abominations shall be in the midst of thee: and you shall know that I am the Lord.

Therefore as I live, saith the Lord God: Because thou hast violated my sanctuary with all thy offences and with all thy abominations: I will also break thee in pieces, and my eye shall not spare, and I will not have any pity.

Sade. The Lord is just, for I have provoked his mouth to wrath: hear, I pray you, all ye people, and see my sorrow: my virgins and my young men are gone into captivity.

And with thee I will break in pieces man and woman, and with thee I will break in pieces the old man and the child, and with thee I will break in pieces the young man and the virgin:

And after this, saith the Lord, I will give Sedecias the king of Juda, and his servants, and his people, and such as are left in this city from the pestilence and the sword and the famine, into the hand of Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life: and he shall strike them with the edge of the sword, and he shall not be moved to pity nor spare them nor shew mercy on them.

Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts: Behold, I will visit upon them: and their young men shall die by the sword, their sons and their daughters shall die by famine.

For death is come up through our windows: it is entered into our houses, to destroy the children from without, the young men from the streets.

Therefore am I full of the fury of the Lord, I am weary with holding in. Pour it out upon the child abroad and upon the council of the young men together: for man and woman shall be taken, the ancient and he that is full of days.

Its harvest shall be destroyed with drought, women shall come and teach it: for it is not a wise people. Therefore he that made it shall not have mercy on it: and he that formed it shall not spare it.

Now therefore go, and smite Amalec, and utterly destroy all that he hath. Spare him not, nor covet any thing that is his; but slay both man and woman, child and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

And killed all that were in it, man and woman, young and old. The oxen also and the sheep, and the asses, they slew with the edge of the sword.

A most insolent nation, that will shew no regard to the ancients, nor have pity on the infant:

Without, the sword shall lay them waste, and terror within: both the young man and the virgin, the sucking child with the man in years.

Daleth. The ways of Sion mourn, because there are none that come to the solemn feast: all her gates are broken down: her priests sigh: her virgins are in affliction and she is oppressed with bitterness.

In that day the fair virgins, and the young men shall faint for thirst.

For I have heard the voice as of a woman in travail, anguishes as of a woman in labor of a child. The voice of the daughter of Sion, dying away, spreading her hands: Woe is me, for my soul hath fainted because of them that are slain.

Hear therefore, ye women, the word of the Lord, and let your ears receive the word of his mouth: and teach your daughters wailing, and every one her neighboor mourning.

Speak to the house of Israel: Thus saith the Lord God: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the glory of your realm and the thing that your eyes desire, and for which your soul feareth: your sons, and your daughters, whom you have left, shall fall by the sword.
