Having thirty sons that rode on thirty ass colts, and were princes of thirty cities, which from his name were called Havoth Jair, that is, the towns of Jair, until this present day in the land of Galaad.

And Jair the son of Manasses went, and took the villages thereof: and he called them Havoth Jair, that is to say, the villages of Jair.

And he had forty sons, and of them thirty grandsons, mounted upon seventy ass colts: and he judged Israel eight years.

Speak, you that ride upon fair asses, and you that sit in judgment, and walk in the way.

Jair the son of Manasses possessed all the country of Argob unto the borders of Gessuri, and Machati. And he called Basan by his own name, Havoth Jair: that is to say, the towns of Jair, until this present day.

To him succeeded Jair the Galaadite, who judged Israel for two and twenty years:

And Jair died, and was buried in the place which was called Camon.
