After Abimelech there arose a ruler in Israel, Thola son of Phua the uncle of Abimelech, a man of Issachar, who dwelt in Samir of mount Ephraim.

And the Lord raised up judges, to deliver them from the hands of those that oppressed them: but they would not hearken to them,

And they cried to the Lord, who raised them up a saviour, and delivered them: to wit, Othoniel the son of Cenez, the younger brother of Caleb.

And in the mountain Samir and Jether and Socoth,

The sons of Issachar: Thola and Phua and Job and Semron.

The Sichemites also were rewarded for what they had done: and the curse of Joatham the son of Jerobaal came upon them.

And he judged Israel three and twenty years, and he died and was buried in Samir.

And forthwith he sounded the trumpet in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel went down with him, he himself going in the front.

After him Abesan of Bethlehem judged Israel.
