Man knoweth not his own end: but as fishes are taken with the hook, and as birds are caught with the snare, so men are taken in the evil time, when it shall suddenly come upon them.
For they thought to cut them off, as they did before. But they, artfully feigning a flight, designed to draw them away from the city, and by their seeming to flee to bring them to the highways aforesaid.
But I and the rest of the multitude which is with me will approach on the contrary side against the city. And when they shall come out against us, we will flee, and turn our backs, as we did before:
And whilst we are fleeing, and they pursuing, you shall arise out of the ambush, and shall destroy the city. And the Lord your God will deliver it into our hands.
