And when Phinees, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from the midst of the multitude, and taking a dagger,

And Phinees the son of Eleazar the son of Aaron was over the house. So they consulted the Lord and said: Shall we go out any more to fight against the children of Benjamin our brethren, or shall we cease? And the Lord said to them: Go up, for to-morrow I will deliver them into your hands.

But Eleazar the son of Aaron took a wife of the daughters of Phutiel: and she bore him Phinees. These are the heads of the Levitical families by their kindreds.

But if thy brother shall offend against thee, go, and rebuke him between thee and him alone. If he shall hear thee, thou shalt gain thy brother.

Designs are strengthened by counsels: and wars are to be managed by governments.

And they sent messengers to all the tribe of Benjamin to say to them: Why hath so great an abomination been found among you?

Inquire carefully and diligently the truth of the thing by looking well into it: and if thou find that which is said to be certain, and that this abomination hath been really committed,

And Moses sent them with Phinees the son of Eleazar the priest: and he delivered to him the holy vessels, and the trumpets to sound.

Eleazar also, the son of Aaron, died. And they buried him in Gabaath that belongeth to Phinees his son, which was given him in mount Ephraim.

And the sons of Ruben and Gad had many flocks of cattle: and their substance in beasts was infinite. And when they saw the lands of Jazer and Galaad fit for feeding cattle:

And Phinees the son of Eleazar, was their prince before the Lord.
