Come, and see a man who has told me all things whatsoever I have done. Is not he the Christ?

They answered, and said to him: Thou wast wholly born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.

The man answered, and said to them: Why, herein is a wonderful thing, that you know not from whence he is, and he hath opened my eyes.

He said therefore to them: If he be a sinner, I know not: one thing I know, that whereas I was blind, now I see.

Again therefore the Pharisees asked him, how he had received his sight. But he said to them: He put clay upon my eyes, and I washed, and I see.

They asked him therefore: Who is that man who said to thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?

And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent from Jerusalem priests and Levites to him, to ask him: Who art thou?

But he being gone out, began to publish and to blaze abroad the word: so that he could not openly go into the city, but was without in desert places: and they flocked to him from all sides.

The Jews therefore said to him that was healed: It is the sabbath; it is not lawful for thee to take up thy bed.

Therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, because he did these things on the sabbath.

Whereupon therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he did not only break the sabbath, but also said God was his Father, making himself equal to God.
