the days of our years in them are threescore and ten years. But if in the strong they be fourscore years: and what is more of them is labour and sorrow. For mildness is come upon us: and we shall be corrected.

By his power the seas are suddenly gathered together; and his wisdom has struck the proud one.

Arise, arise, put on strength, O thou arm of the Lord: arise as in the days of old, in the ancient generations. Hast not thou struck the proud one, and wounded the dragon?

For Egypt shall help in vain, and to no purpose. Therefore have I cried concerning this: It is pride only. Sit still.

For my soul is filled with evils: and my life hath drawn nigh to hell.

Therefore is the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, and he hath stretched out his hand upon them, and struck them: and the mountains were troubled, and their carcasses became as dung in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
