Wise men confess and hide not their fathers.

Remember the days of old: think upon every generation. Ask thy father, and he will declare to thee: thy elders and they will tell thee.

Ask of the days of old, that have been before thy time from the day that God created man upon the earth, from one end of heaven to the other end thereof, if ever there was done the like thing, or it hath been known at any time:

For what things soever were written, were written for our learning: that through patience and the comfort of the scriptures, we might have hope.

Now all these things happened to them in figure: and they are written for our correction, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

The living, the living, he shall give praise to thee, as I do this day: the father shall make thy truth known to the children.

Unto the end, for them that shall be changed, for the sons of Core, for understanding. A canticle for the Beloved.

There are with us also aged and ancient men, much elder than thy fathers.

In the ancient is wisdom: and in length of days prudence.

He took counsel with the ancients, who had stood before his father Solomon, while he yet lived, saying: What counsel give you to me, that I may answer the people?

This I know from the beginning, since man was placed upon the earth:

Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land: did this ever happen in your days, or in the days of your fathers?

Behold, my eye hath seen all these things, and my ear hath heard them: and I have understood them all.
