Because the wicked man is reserved to the day of destruction: and he shall be brought to the day of wrath.

There is no darkness, and there is no shadow of death, where they may be hid who work iniquity.

As Sodom and Gomorrha, and the neighbouring cities, in like manner, having given themselves to fornication, and going after other flesh, were made an example, suffering the punishment of eternal fire.

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be among you lying teachers, who shall bring in sects of perdition, and deny the Lord who bought them: bringing upon themselves swift destruction.

Who shall suffer eternal punishment in destruction, from the face of the Lord, and from the glory of his power:

For when they shall say, peace and security; then shall sudden destruction come upon them, as the pains upon her that is with child, and they shall not escape.

What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath, fitted for destruction,

Enter ye in at the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there are who go in thereat.

For the Lord shall stand up as in the mountain of divisions: he shall be angry as in the valley which is in Gabaon: that he may do his work, his strange work: that he may perform his work, his work is strange to him.

It is joy to the just to do judgment: and dread to them that work iniquity.

The strength of the upright is the way of the Lord: and fear to them that work evil.

When sudden calamity shall fall on you, and destruction, as a tempest, shall be at hand: when tribulation and distress shall come upon you:

Remember this, the enemy hath reproached the Lord: and a foolish people hath provoked thy name.

But if the Lord do a new thing, and the earth opening her mouth swallow them down, and all things that belong to them, and they go down alive into hell, you shall know that they have blasphemed the Lord.

Let his strength be wasted with famine: and let hunger invade his ribs.

This is the portion of a wicked man from God: and the inheritance of his doings from the Lord.

How often shall the lamp of the wicked be put out, and a deluge come upon them: and he shall distribute the sorrows of his wrath?

For I have always feared God as waves swelling over me; and his weight I was not able to bear.

And, behold a certain woman casting a piece of a millstone from above, dashed it against the head of Abimelech, and broke his skull.

And one saw this and told Joab, saying: I saw Absalom hanging upon an oak.
