He that is mocked by his friends as I, shall call upon God: and he will hear him. For the simplicity of the just man is laughed to scorn.

And the people stood beholding, and the rulers with them derided him, saying: He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the elect of God.

And he went up from thence to Bethel. And as he was going up by the way, little boys came out of the city and mocked him, saying: Go up, thou bald head. Go up, thou bald head.

One of them a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are always liars, evil beasts, slothful bellies.

But the Jews, moved with envy, and taking unto them some wicked men of the vulgar sort, and making a tumult, set the city in an uproar; and besetting Jason's house, sought to bring them out unto the people.

And one of those robbers who were hanged, blasphemed him, saying: If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

But the whole multitude together cried out, saying: Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:

Said to them: You have presented unto me this man, as one that perverteth the people; and behold I, having examined him before you, find no cause in this man, in those things wherein you accuse him.

And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him: Prophesy: and the servants struck him with the palms of their hands.

And the people shall rush one upon another, and every man against his neighbour: the child shall make it tumult against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.

The strength of whose hands was to me as nothing: and they were thought unworthy of life itself.
