There are many thoughts in the heart of a man: but the will of the Lord shall stand firm.

Who shew from the beginning the things that shall be at last, and from ancient times the things that as yet are not done, saying: My counsel shall stand, and all my will shall be done.

If he pull down, there is no man that can build up. If he shut up a man, there is none that can open.

I have learned that all the works which God hath made, continue for ever: we cannot add any thing, nor take away from those things which God hath made that he may be feared.

Who established the earth above the waters: for his mercy endureth for ever.

The perverse are hard to be corrected, and the number of fools is infinite.

Every best gift, and every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change, nor shadow of alteration.

Thou wilt say therefore to me: Why doth he then find fault? for who resisteth his will?

For when he granteth peace, who is there that can condemn? When he hideth his countenance, who is there that can behold him, whether it regard nations, or all men?

If he shall overturn all things, or shall press them together, who shall contradict him?

And shouldst know that I have done no wicked thing, whereas there is no man that can deliver out of thy hand.

Although thou conceal these things in thy heart, yet I know that thou rememberest all things.

I have not departed from the commandments of his lips: and the words of his mouth I have hid in my bosom.

And when he shall have fulfilled his will in me, many other like things are also at hand with him.

Who call a bird from the east, and from a far country the man of my own will. And I have spoken and will bring it to pass: I have created, and I will do it. Hear me, O ye hardhearted, who are far from justice.
