Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; for when he hath been proved, he shall receive a crown of life, which God hath promised to them that love him.

That the trial of your faith (much more precious than gold which is tried by the fire) may be found unto praise and glory and honour at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined: and I will try them as gold is tried. They shall call on my name, and I will hear them. I will say: Thou art my people: and they shall say: The Lord is my God.

For the Lord knoweth the way of the just: and the way of the wicked shall perish.

And thou shalt remember all the way through which the Lord thy God hath brought thee for forty years through the desert, to afflict thee and to prove thee: and that the things that were in thy heart might be made known, whether thou wouldst keep his commandments or no.

I beseech thee, O Lord, remember how I have walked before thee in truth, and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is pleasing before thee. And Ezechias wept with much weeping.

For I know that he will command his children, and his household after him, to keep the way of the Lord, and do judgment and justice: that for Abraham's sake the Lord may bring to effect all the things he hath spoken unto him.

If any man's work burn, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire.

Answer, I beseech you, without contention: and speaking that which is just, judge ye.

Thou visitest him early in the morning; and thou provest him suddenly.

Let him propose equity against me: and let my judgment come to victory.

If to the left hand, what shall I do? I shall not take hold on him. If I turn myself to the right hand, I shall not see him.

Let him weigh me in a just balance, and let God know my simplicity.

The Lord judgeth the people. Judge me, O Lord, according to my justice, and according to my innocence in me.

Who have said: We will magnify our tongue; our lips are our own. Who is Lord over us?

Because I have kept the ways of the Lord: and have not wickedly departed from my God.

And shouldst know that I have done no wicked thing, whereas there is no man that can deliver out of thy hand.

Doth not he consider my ways, and number all my steps?

I am clean, and without sin. I am unspotted, and there is no iniquity in me.

And thou, O Lord, hast known me, thou hast seen me and proved my heart with thee: gather them together as sheep for a sacrifice, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.
