Suffer me, and I will speak: and after, if you please, laugh at my words.
I have not sinned: and my eye abideth in bitterness.
He hath gathered together his fury against me; and threatening me he hath gnashed with his teeth upon me. My enemy hath beheld me with terrible eyes.
For, behold, my witness is in heaven: and he that knoweth my conscience is on high.
Hold your peace a little while, that I may speak whatsoever my mind shall suggest to me.
Or shall it please him, from whom nothing can be concealed? Or shall he be deceived as a man, with your deceitful dealings?
Shall men hold their peace to thee only? And when thou hast mocked others, shall no man confute thee?
Hear, I beseech you, my words: and do penance.
Behold, you all know it, and why do you speak vain things without cause?
