But stretch forth thy hand a little, and touch all that he hath; and see if he blesseth thee not to thy face.

And when the days of their feasting were gone about, Job sent to them, and sanctified them: and rising up early offered holocausts for every one of them. For he said: Lest perhaps my sons have sinned, and have blessed God in their hearts. So did Job all days.

And thou shalt speak to the children of Israel. The man that curseth his God shall bear his sin:

And they shall pass by it; they shall fall, and be hungry. And when they shall be hungry, they will be angry, and curse their king and their God, and look upwards.

I have declared thy justice in a great church, lo, I will not restrain my lips: O Lord, thou knowest it.

And his wife said to him: Dost thou still continue in thy simplicity? Bless God, and die.

And David said to God: Am not I he that commanded the people to be numbered? It is I that have sinned. It is I that have done the evil. But as for this flock, what hath it deserved? O Lord my God, let thy hand be turned, I beseech thee, upon me, and upon my father's house: and let not thy people be destroyed.

And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying: Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: because the accuser of our brethren is cast forth, who accused them before our God day and night.

And when he had blasphemed the name, and had cursed it, he was brought to Moses. (Now his mother was called Salumith, the daughter of Dabri, of the tribe of Dan:)

And Satan answered, and said: Skin for skin, and all that a man hath he will give for his life.

And the Lord said to Satan: Behold, he is in thy hand; but yet save his life.

A people that continually provoke me to anger before my face: that immolate in gardens and sacrifice upon bricks:

Then the Lord said to Satan: Behold, all that he hath is in thy hand; only put not forth thy hand upon his person. And Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.
