Thou that liftest me up from the gates of death, that I may declare all thy praises in the gates of the daughter of Sion.

Therefore art thou surrounded with snares: and sudden fear troubleth thee.

O how hast thou multiplied thy mercy, O God! But the children of men shall put their trust under the covert of thy wings.

And they may recover themselves from the snares of the devil, by whom they are held captive at his will.

For they that will become rich, fall into temptation, and into the snare of the devil, and into many unprofitable and hurtful desires, which drown men into destruction and perdition.

Moreover he must have a good testimony of them who are without: lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

Therefore, thus saith the Lord God: I will spread out my net over thee with the multitude of many people, and I will draw thee up in my net.

A snare shall entangle the wicked man when he sinneth: and the just shall praise and rejoice.

His own iniquities catch the wicked, and he is fast bound with the ropes of his own sins.

His harvest the hungry shall eat, and the armed man shall take him by violence; and the thirsty shall drink up his riches.

The sole of his foot shall be held in a snare: and thirst shall burn against him.

At least now, understand that God hath not afflicted me with an equal judgment, and compassed me with his scourges.

Fear and the pit and the snare are upon thee, O thou inhabitant of the earth.

And it shall come to pass, that he that shall flee from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit and he that shall rid himself out of the pit, shall be taken in the snare: for the flood-gates from on high are opened, and the foundations of the earth shall be shaken.
