And they have bent their tongue, as a bow, for lies and not for truth: they have strengthened themselves upon the earth: for they have proceeded from evil to evil, and me they have not known, saith the Lord.

They profess that they know God: but in their works they deny him; being abominable, and incredulous, and to every good work reprobate.

In a flame of fire, giving vengeance to them who know not God, and who obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Not in the passion of lust, like the Gentiles that know not God:

Pour out thy indignation upon the nations that have not known thee, and upon the provinces that have not called upon thy name: because they have eaten up Jacob and devoured him and consumed him, and have destroyed his glory.

And thou, my son Solomon, know the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart, and a willing mind. For the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the thoughts of minds. If thou seek him, thou shalt find him: but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

Now the sons of Heli were children of Belial, not knowing the Lord,

But he answered: Who is the Lord, that I should hear his voice, and let Israel go? I know not the Lord, neither will I let Israel go.

And they that shall be left shall be taken away from them. They shall die, and not in wisdom.

Then Job answered, and said:

This is the portion of a wicked man from God: and the inheritance of his doings from the Lord.
